Get ready for the Europeana Education Competition 2023

In collaboration with the 2023 STEM Discovery Campaign, the Europeana Education Competition 2023 is open to all teachers in primary, secondary and post-secondary education, VET and special education of any subject, museum educators, and other CHI professionals (like librarians, archivists, curators and other non-formal educators) – to find innovative ways of using Europeana arts and digital science heritage in their educational activities and share their story of implementation about it!
The Europeana Collections are an online database that can be easily employed for online activities. Why not check out Historiana or Transcribathon? You can liven any educational activity with these online tools. On the Teaching with Europeana blog you can already find some learning scenarios and stories of implementation that have been partially or fully virtually organized.
How can you participate?
To participate in the Competition, teachers need to submit a Story of Implementation, using the Story of Implementation template. To submit their entries, participants must follow the next steps:
- Step 1: Register to the Scientix portal and obtain your EUN ID credentials.
To take part in the Competition, participants need to be registered to the Scientix portal. If you are not registered, you can do so by filling in the form here. After registration, you will obtain your EUN ID credentials. If you already have a Scientix account, you can use your existing EUN ID credentials to continue with the next steps.
- Step 2: Pin your submission in the map
Pin your Story of Implementation to the 2023 STEM Discovery Campaign map by filling in the submission form, either on the Scientix portal or the STEM Discovery Campaign mobile app:
- On the Scientix portal: First sign in with your EUN ID credentials; go to “My Activities” on any STEM Discovery campaign page; select “Submit activity”; and fill in the submission form.
OR:
- Via the mobile app: Download the STEM Discovery Campaign Mobile app; sign in with your EUN ID credentials; select the “Submit” button; and fill in the submission form.
When filling in the form, select the category: “Story of Implementation of Cultural heritage educational activity in class (Europeana)”. After you have filled in the form, your submission will appear on the 2023 STEM Discovery Campaign map and you fill receive an Entry ID, which you will need for submitting your Story of Implementation for the competition. Note that all activities/actions submitted in the 2023 STEM Discovery Campaign are automatically eligible to be selected for a Scientix Award.
To submit your Story of Implementation to the “Europeana Education Competition 2023”, continue to Step 3.
- Step 3: Submit your Story of Implementation
Go to the “About” section of the STEM Discovery Campaign application OR to the “Competitions” section on the STEM Discovery Campaign website and fill in the form for the “Europeana Education Competition 2023”.
Add a link to your Story of Implementation in the Competition submission form (while also making sure your Story can be accessed and the link works), and fill in all relevant fields in the form.
- Step 4: Spread the Word! (optional)
Let the world know about your participation in the STEM Discovery Campaign 2023 and share your experience on the Europeana Competition on social media, using the hashtags #SDC23.
When can you submit your entry?
The Competition starts on the 15th of February 2023 and ends on the 30th of April 2023. Teachers and educators are able to submit their entries until April 30, 2023, by 23:59 Central European Summer Time (CEST). Submissions received outside the submission period will not be eligible for participation. The entries will be reviewed over the course of May 2023.
