Garbage Museum (LS-TR-734)
This scenario sets out from the idea of protecting our world, which is the goal of the Sustainable Development Goals. The effective transfer of environmental awareness to students is the goal of this scenario.
Introducing garbage and making students understand that what we call garbage is a waste of resources are among the achievements of the scenario.
With this scenario I prepared on children’s recognition of garbage, solutions for improving the environment are presented.
It facilitates the learning of the concepts of “natural” and “artificial”.
They are allowed to create public museums to popularize what they know.
They are given the opportunity to make various presentations, enabled to take part in various services and effective solutions are produced for environmental problems.
Implementation Steps
First step; “What is garbage?
They write their ideas about garbage into the Popplet tool. They take pictures of objects they call garbage.
Second step; In these photos, they categorize products with the same similarities. They made environmental observations and compiled the most waste waste around them in a tally table.
Third step; They carried out research within the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals and investigated what to do with the waste. They made compost with organic waste.
Fourth step; They sought permanent solutions to impress people. In particular, they made the “Pictogram” work that will make everyone understand. They have prepared a special Pictogram for each type of waste. They hung these pictograms on school walls, gardens and parks.
Output of the Script
Fifth step; They built a museum open to the public. They invited students and their parents to this museum consisting of garbage. The artifacts in the museum consist of the garbage they collect from their surroundings.
What do you do if people stop making waste?
With this event, I made them work to impress people.
I have done a lot of assessment work as I give importance to interim assessments and final assessments in my learning scenario.
