International Tea Party (LS-HU-232)
Using our senses for learning is not very common. Therefore I wanted to experiment with this. I tried to activate 3 out of our five senses: seeing, smelling, tasting. I used tea as a topic and tea as a drink.
Beginning to work
We start with ZeeMaps to collect countries where tea is popular according to students. Then comes a very short history of tea and some necessary vocabulary with some practice exercises. Students in groups create a poster about tea using Europeana resources.
Prepare to sense
We create a mind map with the help of Popplet to write about the tea making process. Then comes the biggest fun for all of us. Students have to taste many different kinds of tea. They have to guess just by the smell, the taste and what they see.
Assessment
As assessment students create different word clouds using Word Art. They have to write (without any help) as many words as they can about tea.
