Keep Calm and Create a WWII Propaganda Poster! (LS-EU-740)

What is propaganda and what effect does it have on us? Why were propaganda posters used during the Second World War and what made them so effective?

In this learning scenario, we study examples of propaganda posters used across Europe during the Second World War.  We look at the posters’ artistic style, language content and try to decipher the message that the posters are presenting.

After studying authentic posters from the Europeana catalogue, learners are tasked with creating their own posters.

This learning scenario has been designed for children in upper primary education.  However, the content could be adapted for older or younger learners.
