Sustainable Future 4 European Heritage (EN-CUR-476)
With this learning scenario, students explore and study how humans have influenced the environment and culture: they compare landscapes, cities and other cultural buildings in the past and today. Then, they suggest possible solutions to the problems that emerged due to the human impact, in line with sustainable development.
The main aim of this lesson is to emphasize that human and social development should be aligned with sustainable development in order to preserve the environment and cultural heritage. Through collaboration and working in groups, students develop communication and critical thinking skills.
This learning scenario has been developed during the English version of the “Europeana in your classroom: building 21st-century competences with digital cultural heritage (Rerun)” online course. The course aimed to improve teachers’ understanding of cultural heritage in order to efficiently integrate it into their lessons and practices. The courses can be accessed here.
