Where There is Life, There is Soap! (EN-CUR-484)

This learning scenario aims at raising awareness about the human impact on the environment. In recent years, many countries have been facing natural disasters, suffering from extreme weather conditions, garbage overflowing the streets due to lack of a solution for pollution, different chemicals poisoning the soil etc.

In this learning scenario, students will learn to recognize the human-caused disturbance in nature, anticipate the consequences arising from lack of access to natural resources, identify the causal relations, based on observations, and explain the relationship between science, technology and social progress.  At the end of the lesson, students will make all-natural handmade soap with no ecological footprint.

This learning scenario has been developed during the English version of the “Europeana in your classroom: building 21st-century competences with digital cultural heritage (Rerun)” online course. The course aimed to improve teachers’ understanding of cultural heritage in order to efficiently integrate it into their lessons and practices. The courses can be accessed here.
