Introduction

Our exhibition BITES, together with the activity taught in the museum’s laboratory, aims to educate and raise the awareness of future generations and ensure that the planet has a better future. We can change our bad habits in our daily lives. The exhibition teaches us to have a healthy diet and healthy habits. Three of the seventeen goals that the UN wishes to achieve are reflected in the three parts into which the exhibition is divided”.

Bites activity:

  • End Poverty
  • Zero Hunger
  • Quality education

It is taught to primary and secondary school pupils, who are very receptive to the themes being developed. Normally in groups of no more than 30 participants.

Stages of implementation

The workshop begins with a PowerPoint presentation, familiarising schoolchildren with the 2030 agenda, the 17 sustainable goals and our BOCADOS exhibition.

The first activity is the presentation of goal number 2 “ZERO HUNGER”:

  • They get to know the 8 main cereals (the basis of our food).
  • They take part in a kahoot where the acquired knowledge is reflected in a fun way, 8 questions related to cereals will have to related to cereals will have to answer in a quick and correct way to be the winning group.

We continue with the objective number 1 END POVERTY:

  • We explain to the participants the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables on a daily basis and the importance of responsible and sustainable consumption responsible and sustainable consumption, encouraging dialogue and participation.
  • A practice of fruit origami: each group will have instructions and materials to compose three different fruits, different fruits, developing their manual skills.

And we finish with the objective number 4 QUALITY EDUCATION:

  • We explain how important it is in our society to have a good education with the presentation of a PowerPoint presentation, as in the previous activities, and we will do a practice of culinary education with which the participants will be able to surprise their families with what they have learnt, as they will be able to take away our recipe for spherifications.
  • Spherifications recipe: they will be molecular cooks: the creation of spherifications will be put into practice with all the necessary material, step by step.

Outcomes

The conclusion of the practice is satisfactory with the pupils. Many schoolchildren have had access to information on sustainability, the schools work closely with the pupils. Even at home, many of them are concerned about sustainability.

They are even concerned about it in their homes, many of them carry out daily activities turning them into healthy routines, family cooking, recycling… time of benefit and quality time. In some cases they are unaware of some details but this is remedied by completing this time in our laboratory. This practice makes them participate in a fun and educational way.

The conclusion as an educator is very satisfactory. It is very dynamic with a suitable age range.

Normally the participation of the group is excellent, even educators can learn a lot, as far as caring for the planet is concerned.

We educators can learn a lot about caring for the planet thanks to the dialogue that is established between educator and pupil.

The practice BE A MOLECULAR COOK is undoubtedly a guaranteed success, it always surprises.
