I have implemented Vintage VR learning scenario by Rafael Montero. I have done it with the seventh graders (13-years old) during the English lesson (45 minutes). It was necessary to adapt the learning scenario to my situation because I teach English, not Social Sciences. As well, my Technology teacher was not available.
I had chosen four stereoscope postcards and created respective worksheets with the links leading to Europeana. The students created teams. Then I asked them to go through Europeana in order to get the information about the postcards and also about the buildings shown in the cards. After that, I asked the students to use the internet to get as many pieces of information as necessary. When they did that part, they presented their assignment in front of the class. They prepared PowerPoint presentations for homework.
At the same time, two students watched the YouTube clip with instructions on how to make virtual reality glasses. They got cardboard, scissors, pencil, glue, tape and lenses. Their task was to make the cardboard VR glasses.
At the end of the lesson, the students discussed what they have learned and how they felt during this lesson. In general, they liked the lesson because it was not a usual textbook-based one. In addition, they appreciated the freedom to surf the Internet for information. The poster with the pictures and the accompanying text will be created as soon as the students provide the final text.
