What is Europeana?
Europeana is Europe’s platform for digital cultural heritage, empowering the cultural heritage sector in its digital transformation. Through its website, millions of cultural heritage items from around 4,000 institutions across Europe are available online. Europeana also works to share and promote this heritage so that it can be used and enjoyed by people across the world. Teachers and learners of all ages can find images, text, audio, video and 3D content on anything from art to science, in over 37 languages. A big part of the collections – over 20 million items – is openly licensed and can be freely reused in education.
What does it mean to be part of the Europeana Education User Group?
Recruited members of the User Group will be required to support the project by carrying out the following actions:
- Develop one new Learning Scenario based on an agreed topic, using Europeana content,
- Or write a Story of Implementation from the experience of implementing own [1] or a colleague’s Learning Scenario for the Teaching with Europeana blog,
- And comment on the Stories of Implementation and Learning Scenarios of other colleagues based on own testing experience.
Furthermore, selected teachers should cover a range of disciplines and curriculum topics. They should also have experience in producing learning resources. Sufficient knowledge of English (understanding, writing, reading and listening) and an interest in creating cultural content are also required.
Why become one of the Europeana User Group Teachers?
At the dawn of what could be a durable transition to online teaching, digital cultural heritage is more than ever an essential tool to explore and support innovative and high-quality ways of teaching and learning. As a member of the Europeana Teacher Community, not only will you participate in creating, testing and sharing reliable tools and materials to work with, but you will also work with other passionate educators eager to provide quality learning, based on citizenship, collaboration and critical thinking for our students and future citizens.
At the end of the project, the 20 most active Europeana Education User Group teachers/museum educators will be invited to a Europeana DSI-4 Teacher workshop taking place in the Future Classroom Lab, with all transport and accommodation expenses covered [2].
Deadline extended: 31 December 2021
For more details about the call, please read the terms and conditions.
[1] In case the teacher is implementing his/her own created LS, he/she will share his/her experience in the learning scenario’s “Teacher’s remarks” and “Student feedback” sections.
[2] Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the face-to-face workshop might be replaced by another activity
