Call for Europeana Education User Group Teachers

Are you a primary or secondary teacher? Are you looking for new opportunities to enrich your classes? Join the community of teachers using digital cultural resources in their classroom! European Schoolnet is looking for teachers from Bulgaria (1), Croatia (4), Finland (2), France (2), Hungary (3), Italy (4), Malta (4), North Macedonia (1), Poland (3), Portugal (5), Romania (1), Serbia (2), Spain (5), Turkey (4), and from the European Schools (6), to join the Europeana Education User Group, between October 2019 to August 2020.

What is Europeana?

Europeana is Europe’s platform for digital cultural heritage. It currently provides free access to ca. 60 million cultural records coming from thousands of museums, libraries, archives and audio-visual collections across Europe. Teachers and learners of all ages can find content on anything from art and science, in over 37 languages. A big part of its collections – over 20 million items – is openly licensed and can be freely reused in education.

What does it mean to be part of the Europeana Education User Group?

As part of the User Group, teachers will be required to support the project by:

• Developing one new learning scenario using Europeana content per project year
• Implementing their and at least one of their colleagues’ learning scenarios in their classroom
• Writing a Story of Implementation from the experience of implementing a colleague’s learning scenario for the Teaching with Europeana blog and commenting on the stories of implementation and learning scenarios of other colleagues, based on own experience

Finally, selected teachers should cover a range of disciplines and curriculum topics, should be experienced in producing learning resources, should have sufficient knowledge of English (understanding, writing, reading and listening) and an interest in creating cultural content.

Why should you participate?

Not only will you be part of the growing community of teachers preparing their pupils for the challenges of the present in the digital society, but you will also have the opportunity to work together with other passionate educators.

At the end of each project year, the 30 most active Europeana Education User Group teachers will be invited to a Europeana DSI-4 Teacher workshop taking place in the Future Classroom Lab, with all transport and accommodation expenses covered.
